The Sky is Not The Limit

To live life to its fullest, bring adventure into your life every chance you get.  I never thought that I would be helping the first paraplegic women summit the roof of Africa.  I can only imagine the summit as we are only a week from starting the climb, my beard filled with icicles, I struggle to think straight, struggle to keep warm, and struggle to keep lifting.  I’m sure I will start to pray as I fight to place one foot in front of the other, breathing one breath at a time as I start suffering from a lack of oxygen due to the high altitude.  As we carry Erica in her mountain chair making our last steps to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro the simplest action will take all of our determination and last reserves of might.

At its core, adventure is the willingness to commit to an uncertain outcome with an open mind and an open heart.  It is the ability to make a leap into the unknown with grace and a free mind from uncertainty.  When you look at life in an adventurous way opportunities come knocking on your door.

Never put possibility blockers on what you can do; the sky is not the limit as there is no limit to human beings.  People have already told me that taking a paraplegic to the top of the highest free standing mountain in the world is crazy.  It’s not crazy; this is going to show every challenged athlete in the world that once you loose a leg or become a para, your life isn’t over…it has just begun.  Adventure isn’t something that is just for professional mountain climbers or an extreme athlete.   It is an expression of your heart’s intention to believe.  It’s the ability to think big about yourself, how you are living, and what the world as in store for you; whether you are climbing a mountain, running in a triathlon or swimming with sharks.  By definition, adventure has an unknown outcome.

The greatest thing about this is that it teaches children that there are no limits, the only limit you have is the limit you give yourself.  I have eleven nieces and nephews that believe in me and will be following this adventure.  I know with there faith and prayers I will make it to the top with Erica.
