Better than the image
Can be used other than for phone. Being used to hold calculator that provides easy access for various projects. Bottom can be utilized to hold other office supplies.

Holds telephone up and off of desk
I have a 12" wide phone with fax and I purchased this stand thinking it would fit. However I forgot I needed a little bit more room due to my cords sticking out of the side of the phone. Also if you come from a big city and have a larger than 2" phone book it will not fit underneath the stand. I still like the product and suggest you do better than I and accurately measure everything.
