Better than the cheapo safes at the local stores
This is my first *real* safe. It was surprisingly lighter and easier to carry up my 2 flights of stairs than I had hoped it would be. I'm not overly worried about that as it does come with 4 holes in the bottom to bolt it to the floor. When I received it the first thing I did was a visual inspection and make sure that everything was there. I saw that 1 reviewer said theirs included a light, mine did not. Overstock had the best deal around on this, total price after shipping was WAY lower than the next closest. I do regret a little bit getting a safe with an electronic keypad instead of an old fashioned dial but so far I have had no problem with the keypad. Most importantly it is more rugged than the safes commonly seen in stores. I don't think I can give a complete review unless someone breaks in and tries to open the safe up! I'm happy with my purchase.

I recieved the safe in great shipping condition. It was boxed with foam sheets on all 6 sides of the product to protect during shipping. I inspected the condition and found it to be in perfect conditon upon delivery. I used the default setting for the code to open it and was extremely impressed with the outcome. The shelves were beautifully lined with a light grey felt-like material. The inside was illuminated with LED lighting, bright enough to examine the contents of the interior. I found the battery override to the safe to be very simple to operate, and the weight of the safe very heavy. The safe came with bolts to install into concrete. Very useful. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

This unit would be good for burglary, there are a few hot-spots in the door. It would be best to put it on a ground floor

searched around a lot before settling for this one
My criteria for buying this safe were: (1) enough burglary protection to check mate chance intruders. As far as dedicated thieves go - with the right tools any safe can be forced open, anyway. (2) I wanted to be able to move with it. I can carry it alone when empty - just about. Whenever I live in a rental and can't bolt the safe down, I plan to just store a lot of my lead scuba diving weights ($2 per pound) in it to make it really really heavy... (3) I wanted some basic fire protection and the 30min specification is enough for me - my papers I put in a little fire safe box ($25) inside this safe - that way they should be more than ok in case of a fire. This safe works great for my purposes. Like with everything in life - if you spend more money you can get a safe with higher burglary protection and/or more space. But I am very happy with it and I have had it for about a month. Something the description did not say, was that my safe came with interior lighting - I don't know if that was a mistake, though. I have seen other sites charge you extra for that feature.
