Early in my life, I was a mechanic for 15 years. I still have my tools, (now another 15 years later) and they still look and feel as good as when I bought them. If they had looked like these tools, (the drill set), I would never have bought them, and I'm guessing these won't be around long after the first or second use. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Maybe Snap-on spoiled me, and believe me, my expectations were low to begin with, but if you're looking for one-time-use tools, you still can't go wrong for the price; it's just not the astounding bargain it sounds like. Even the drill (which was the only thing I really needed) has only ONE SPEED. Sure, I'm an idiot for not checking the fine print (I still haven't seen where it says that), but what modern drill has only ON and OFF? It's really no good to me at all, but again, it's not worth the effort to return it for the price. What hacks me even more is the batteries and charger: You can't leave a battery in the charger (after its charged) or they'll burn up, and (as is common with Ni-Cads), they lose about 3% of their charge per day, whether you use them or not. So, if you don't use the thing for a few weeks (as I'm like to do) guess what? Two dead batteries. Unfortunately, I have more to tell from the first few minutes of inspecting, like the fact that first plastic case containing drill bits broke the first time I touched it, and wouldn't stay in its spot in the cover, as several other tools fell out as soon as I popped the top. Annoying at best. I gave the second one away (they came in a two-for-one deal), and apologized in advance to the recipient.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO UPSET OVER THE LIFE OF THESE BATTERIES. YOU CAN'T FINISH A JOB BECAUSE BOTH BATTERIES RUN DOWN SO FAST YOU CAN'T GET THEM CHARGED FAST ENOUGH. I GOT THIS ONE BECAUSE MY OLD ONE IS 10 YEARS OLD AND IS TAPED TOGETHER BUT THE BATTERY STILL LASTS LONGER THAN BOTH OF THE NEW ONES.
The batteries in this kit are very poor. They won't hold a charge at all (essentially dead by the next day) and don't last very long at all when using it. Its a nice kit - but crippled by very poor battery packs - if you just need a cheap cordless drill (and it does have lots of accessories) and don't mind charging before EVERY use (and don't use it for very long) - then this may be acceptable. But if you're a power user - forget it.
I got this and share it with my daddy and he feels it's just as wonderful as I do since he works as a handy man fixing ALOT of things
I am very pleased with the tool kit. it is a very good kit for the general user. I especially like the extra battery in the packet. I will give the second kit as a gift.
