Not all of my light switches have updated wiring. Therefore I could not install a programmable light switch. How is it installed? The AutoChron Programmable Wall Switch Timer screws into the bottom of the light switch making it secure. Remove the bottom screw from you switch plate, pull open the front panel on the timer switch and you'll line an opening with the bottom opening on the face plate. Screw the timer switch into position. How does it work? A plastic piece sits over the switch. Program the on and off time for every day of the week as a whole or individually. When the timer turns on and off, the plastic piece moves up and down, flipping on and off the switch. Yes, there is the sight of a white box sitting on your light switch. However, I think it's a perfect alternative for programming my front porch light to turn on and off. The switch timer runs on batteries.

Ingenous device, easily programable. Installation a no brainer. Only drawback is that the device is only slightly bulky, but I'm pleased nonetheless. How could it be any simpler?

I own 3 of these babies. They are BASIC to install (just screw them on top of the existing switch). They are sortof noisy (just the noise of the mechanism moving up or down to turn the switch on/off). But I love these, easy to program, can have multiple programs. Highly recommend.

For years, I tried different timer switches to control our outside lights. I tried everything--even a switch connected to a wireless network. Nothing worked well; some didn't work at all--in part because it's a very tight squeeze in the switchbox. This product solved the problem quickly and simply. It's a snap to install (no wiring) and just plain works. I even like the fact that it makes a little buzz when it operates--it's a reminder that the lights are going on or off. I've very glad I found this.

My neighbor said she could always tell when we were on vacation because the kitchen lights were constantly on. This product took care of that. Did have to remove the switchplate to allow the timer to get the necessary leverage to manipulate the switch. Works great.

Description should have indicated that this was a supplemental switch and that the original wall switch was necessary for the unit to properly function.

This works perfectly. Programming is easy. Can be programmed for the same times every day, many times a day, different times ever day or a weekly/ weekend schedule. I just wish there was one available for the newer flat switches. I had the old style lever switch on the lights I needed to control so that was easy.

Switch works as advertised. Very easy to program. I have it mounted on a double switch plate and it crowds the other switch a little but in no way makes it inoperable. Used this to replace a motion sensor light. They all fail after a certain time.

This is the most amazing invention. I can't tell you how long I've wanted something like this. It is so ingenious. Easy to install. I use it to turn on my porch light in the evening and turn it off in the morning. It runs on batteries. You can manually turn the light on or off if you want to. Highly recommend.

Overall this product is excellent and I'm very happy with my purchase. It is very easy to program, and reprogram as needed while in place on the switch. I even had to use the manual override, which works very easily. It is also great because you can move it to any switch location if you no longer need it on the one you are using it for, which you can't do if you wire in a timer device.

A++++ product - I found the Autochron switch about 6 years ago. It took me about 10 minutes to install it and it's been working perfectly ever since! I would highly recommend this product and you only need a screwdriver to remove the light cover and replace it with this product. I bought extras to have! Anyone can install it.

This is a convenient way to add security to your home by being able to turn switch lights on and off at programmed times. Reason for four stars vs. five stars is when mounting over a switch that is part of a wall gang, the next switch over is very close to the timer. I had a dimmer dial on the next switch in the gang and had to remove the dial to install the timer. Consequently, I must replace that dimmer switch to a slider so that it can be operational.

Love this product. It makes some noise when it flips the light switch up and down but we have already gotten used to it. Very happy that I don't have to be home to turn the lights on and off. It was very easy to program.
