Overstock.com

Overstock.com is an online retailer offering a wide variety of high-quality, brand-name merchandise at discount prices, including bedding, home decor, appliances, watches, jewelry, electronics, sporting goods, clothing and shoes. We give customers an opportunity to shop for bargains conveniently, while offering manufacturers, distributors and other retailers an alternative sales channel for liquidating their inventory.

O.biz

Launched in late 2009, O.biz is a site where customers and small businesses can piggy-back on the buying power of Overstock.com to save money on bulk and business purchases. O.biz is your business to business shopping destination for Office Supplies, Restaurant Supplies, Hotel Supplies, Office Furniture and more. We give customers, including small to medium sized businesses, an opportunity to shop for bulk and business related items conveniently, while offering manufacturers, distributors and other retailers an alternative sales channel for liquidating their inventory.

Overstock.com Cars

Launched in early 2007 and redesigned in February 2008, Overstock.com Cars serves as an alternative to the traditional car-buying process by connecting customers to dealers in their local area. With pre-negotiated, dealer-discounted pricing, customers get a "No Hassle, No Haggle" car-buying experience. For those looking for a vehicle at a significant bargain price, our Clearance Lot highlights inventory in the customer's local market with the greatest discounts.

Overstock.com Auctions

In 2004, Overstock.com launched Overstock.com Auctions, a marketplace focused on providing inexpensive and safe transactions for buyers and sellers. The key components of our online auctions are community, quality product selection, low listing fees, soft closes and outstanding customer service. The combination of these five ingredients makes for the ultimate online auction experience..

Overstock.com Real Estate

Overstock.com launched its Real Estate program in May 2008, allowing customers to search millions of active listings across the country. Listing categories include foreclosures, live and online auctions, for sale by owner listings, broker/agent listings and numerous aggregated classified ad listings. Using a unique tool called the "O-Hot Value Indicator," real estate hunters can quickly identify properties that offer a better price relative to other listings currently on the market in their desired geographical area.

Overstock.com is currently developing relationships with real estate professionals who offer discounted services needed in most real estate transactions, including financing, appraisal, property inspections, title research, home warranties and more.

Overstock.com Community

Since 2007, the Overstock.com Community has provided a forum for customers to easily connect with us and with each other. Using the latest in social media, you can join the online conversation. Let us know what you think and hear about exclusive deals by following us on Twitter, becoming a fan on Facebook, watching our videos on YouTube or reading the blogs on Overstock.com.

Our History

In the spring of 1999, Dr. Patrick M. Byrne recognized the potential in liquidating excess inventory through the Internet. Up until then, bargain-seeking consumers had relied upon far-off outlet centers with crowds and limited product selections, and small retailers found little access into the world of closeout merchandise. Meanwhile, adoption of online shopping was skyrocketing.

Six months later and with no outside funding, Overstock.com was launched with the mission of being the premier company selling excess inventory through the Internet. Founded on the principles of value investing and fair dealing, Overstock.com has quickly become the online leader in a market valued at $60 Billion in the United States. Overstock.com's gross bookings (previous called gross merchandise sales of GMS) have grown from $1.8 million in 1999 to $856 million in 2007.

The number of products Overstock.com offers has grown from less than 100 in 1999 to more than 63,000 non-BMMG (Books, Music, Movies and Games) products and over 720,000 BMMG products. Overstock.com calculates that, since launching in October 1999, our customers have saved millions of dollars off the manufacturers' recommended retail prices.

Dr. Patrick M. Byrne Chairman and CEO

Dr. Patrick M. Byrne is Chairman and CEO of Overstock.com, Inc., a Utah-based internet retailer that has been publicly traded since 2002. Under Byrne's leadership the company's revenue soared from $1.8 million in 1999 to $760.2 million in 2007.

Before founding Overstock.com, Byrne served as chairman, president and CEO of Centricut, LLC, a manufacturer of industrial torch consumables, then held the same three positions at Fechheimer Brothers, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company and manufacturer of police, firefighter, and military uniforms.

In 2001, he began Worldstock.com, Overstock.com's socially responsible marketplace for handcrafted products created by artisans from developing nations and from underprivileged artisans in the United States. Overstock's margins on these items are low in order to provide a larger percentage of the sales proceeds directly to the suppliers. On average, artisans receive about 60% of the profit.

Byrne believes that, along with economic freedom, education is the foundation of a healthy society. Byrne has founded 19 schools internationally and is a champion of educational freedom in the United States. In that regard, he is very active in the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice. His personal formal education includes a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in Philosophy & Asian Studies, a master's degree in philosophy from Cambridge University as a Marshall scholar, and a doctorate in philosophy from Stanford University.

Byrne's free market philosophy and passion for sound economic principles often outweigh self-interest. He encourages Americans to pay down their credit card debt, and has vigorously advocated for greater SEC oversight and federal enforcement efforts to curb various forms of securities manipulation practiced by large stock market participants, a position which has provoked the wrath of Wall Street.

Byrne has a black belt in tae kwon do and once pursued a career in professional boxing. He has cycled across the country four times. His last ride, in the summer of 2000, was to raise awareness and funds for cancer research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

In 2009 she improved Overstock.com to the #2 spot on that same list. CEO Patrick Byrne said of Stormy, "I have learned a lesson I wish to share with corporate America: if you want to make your company customer-centric, just take the most stubborn, unbending, hard-headed, customer-loving employee you have, and put her over customer service. The company gets customer-centric quicker than you ever thought possible."

Stephen Tryon SVP, Logistics

Stephen Tryon is a Senior Vice President of Overstock.com, to which he brings valuable experience in strategic planning, operations management, and legislative affairs.
